Fuchs Blackjack 21 Vs Lucky 7
Fuchs Blackjack 21 and 1x12 cab in excellent condition
The Blackjack-21™
The BlackJack-21 is a single channel non master style amp with a more rock and roll attitude than the Fuchs ODS and TDS amps. This new series of amps offers that rock and roll tone and attitude in varying power levels. All models share a similar “in your face” attitude, at different power levels.
The Blackjack 21® is based on a dual 12AX7 preamp stage and a push-pull dual 6V6 fixed bias output stage. Unlike other amps in this price range, the Blackjack 21® has a full compliment of extremely flexible tone controls. A liberal amount of clean headroom is available before the output stage begins distorting with a sweet yet cutting rock edge. Voiced like its siblings the Train 45® and Lucky 7®, the Blackjack 21® has a classic rock voice similar to a vintage Marshall or Trainwreck™ style amp, but with a more manageable power level. Its tone provides a cutting rock edge, filled with harmonic richness and chime. The circuit design also is “attenuator friendly”. The Blackjack 21™ has a preamp stage designed to allow clean-to-mean from the guitar volume control.
The chassis (like all Fuchs® products) is aircraft grade aluminum, our internal construction is mixed PC board and hard wired. On the Blackjack 21®, the preamp tubes and power supply circuitry are on the circuit card, while the power tubes and transformers are mounted directly on the chassis. A detachable power cord is standard. By using single point grounding, the amp is quiet and free of hum at all operating levels.
A single input and single ¼” output jack are provided.

The Blackjack has a tad more headroom, and clips more gracefully (it's push pull, while the Lucky-7 is single ended), and the L-7 is a tad more 'English' (with the EL-34) while the BJ-21 is a little more 'American' with 6V6 tubes. They share the same basic preamp and driver circuits, with different output stages. A couple of reviews are here. The Lucky 7 is actually a very cool amp, with a surprising amount of gain for a little non-master Marshall-esque amp. A friend of mine has the head, and he gets some great heavy blues and classic rock tones out of it.

Up for sale is my Fuchs Lucky 7 head. I bought it about 2 years ago from a seller on The Gear Page. I'd call it 9 out of 10 cosmetics-wise. It's 100% in working order. It's never left my smoke free home. It will ship with a Mullard EL34 XF1, a Tung Sol 12ax7 and JJ 12ax7, so will not need retubing in order to get amazing tone. As is, it's very much in that 'baby Marshall' territory. I've also experimented with some NOS 6V6s and 6L6s as well as a JJ KT77. While the Mullard is very Marshall, I had a NOS Sylvania 6L6 in it at one point that put it squarely in Fender-land. With all the octal tube options, it's about as versatile as you'll find. A great way to get cranked amp tones at manageable volumes. Will easily keep up with a loud drummer. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Dan
Here is the official spiel from Fuchs:
Voiced like its bigger siblings the Train-45® and Blackjack 21®, the Lucky-7® has a classic rock voice similar to a vintage Marshall™ or Trainwreck™ style amp. It provides a cutting rock edge, yet filled with harmonic richness and chime.
The Lucky 7® brings the high build quality and awesome tone's people expect of Fuchs products to a new more affordable price range. The Lucky 7® is based on a dual 12AX7 preamp stage and a unique single ended 7-watt EL-34 fixed bias output stage. By switching to a 6V6, you can reduce power to less than 5-watts. Unlike other amps in this price range, the Lucky 7® has a full compliment of extremely flexible tone controls. A surprising amount of clean headroom is available before the output stage begins distorting with a sweet yet cutting rock edge.
